Appeal Over Missing Sex Offender

Police in Scotland have appealed for help in tracing a registered sex offender who has gone missing.

According to reports, 45-year-old Lorcan Halton from the Saracen area of Glasgow, was due to appear in court on 15 January 2014. However, he never showed.

He was last seen on 9 January, in Cairnryan, Dumfries and Galloway, where he boarded a ferry to Belfast.

Detectives from Police Scotland have said that despite an "extensive" search operation, any attempt to locate Halton have been unsuccessful.

An appeal has now been launched to find him and anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately. Members of the public have been warned not to approach Halton.

He is described as white, around 6ft tall and of medium build with brown hair. He also has a distinctive scar on his right arm.

When he was last spotted, he was wearing dark jeans and a shirt.

Concern is growing for a 39 year-old woman who is missing in Northern Ireland. Jenny Stephens, who speaks with an American accent, was last seen in the North Road area of Carrickfergus on Tuesday evening, 03 December. Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police appeal for car accident witness to contact them
Police are appealing for a male cyclist who may have witnessed a road traffic collision in which one person later died to contact them. The victim, aged in his mid-20s, was walking along the Whitewell Road just before 4.30pm on Monday when he was struck by a red VW Vento car. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

Man's Body Recovered From Bangor Marina
Police have launched an investigation after the body of a man was recovered from Bangor Marina on Wednesday, 13 May. Police received a report that a man had entered the water shortly after 10.15am. Emergency services and police attended the scene and the body was recovered from the water. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Police Vehicle Contracts Arrest - Man Released
A 54-year-old member of police staff who was arrested in County Antrim as part of ongoing investigations into the awarding of vehicle contracts has been released. The man was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and has been taken to a police station in Belfast for questioning.
