Man Arrested Over 'Suspicious Activity', Lurgan

A 51-year-old man has been arrested in relation to suspicious activity in Lurgan's Kilwilkee Estate.

The arrest followed searches conducted by detectives from the PSNI's Serious Crime Branch on Monday at the estate in the County Armagh town.

The arrest was made during the searches, which uncovered items that were subsequently sent for forensic examination. The man was later bailed.

Man Found Unconscious Remains In Hospital

A man who was found with head injuries in L'Derry on Sunday remains unconscious in hospital, it has been reported.

The man, reported to be in his 50s, sustained head injuries and was found at Lower Bennett Street at about 22:30 on Sunday evening. He was then taken to Altnagelvin Hospital and transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Man Convicted Over £20k Benefit Fraud

A man has been convicted at Belfast Crown Court today for claiming over £20,000 in benefits he was not entitled to.

32-year-old John Flynn of Wellwood Street, Belfast claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £20,267 while failing to declare capital. He was given a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Road Improvement To Begin In Belfast

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has confirmed a road improvement scheme for Forthriver Road in Belfast is set to begin on Tuesday 6 May 2014.

Resurfacing of a stretch of carriageway between Ballygomartin Road and the bus turning circle on Forthriver Road is expected to be completed by Friday 16 May 2014.

A diversion route via Forthriver Way will be in place. Work is scheduled to take place between 9.09:00 and 16:30 each day.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.

Off licence robbed in south Belfast
A man armed with a handgun has robbed an off-licence in the University Road area of south Belfast. Shortly after 7pm, a man entered the premises and produced a handgun and demanded money from the till. The man made off with an undisclosed sum of money.
