Sean McParland Murder - Woman Arrested

A woman has been arrested by detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of 55-year-old Sean McParland in Skegoneill Avenue in north Belfast in February 1994.

The 45-year-old was arrested in the Newtownabbey area, County Antrim, on the morning of Tuesday 10 June. She is currently being questioned at the Serious Crime Suite in Antrim police station.

55-year-old Mr McParland was shot in Skegoniel Avenue in north Belfast on 17 February while babysitting. He died a week later.

The arrest is part of the PSNI's Operation Stafford, an investigation into a series of murders and other serious crimes by the UVF in north Belfast.

Two Men Arrested In Connection With George Gilmore Murder
Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of George Gilmore in Carrickfergus. Mr Gilmore died in hospital after he was shot in the neck during an incident in the Woodburn estate on Monday. Police investigating the shooting detained two men, aged 28 and 35, in the greater Belfast area on Thursday night.

Drugs seized in police raids
Four men have been arrested following police raids in Belfast. The men were detained in north Belfast, Newtownabbey and Carrickfergus, County Antrim. All are believed to be in their 30’s and detectives have said they were arrested as part of a pro-active operation against the illegal drugs trade.
