Man Arrested Over East Belfast Stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the stabbing of a 66-year-old man in east Belfast on Tuesday afternoon.

The attack occurred at Wolsey's tackle shop on the Upper Newtownards Road at about 15:30.

The victim was stabbed in the head and neck and taken to hospital, where he is described as being in a "stable condition".

A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Police have not yet revealed whether the man who was stabbed was working at the shop.

'Highly Regarded' Murder Victim Named As Police Hunt The Killers
A murder investigation is underway after an attack which killed a 45-year-old man in east Belfast. The victim has been named locally as Ian Ogle, who was assaulted at Cluan Place, just off the Albertbridge Road, at around 9pm on Sunday 27 January. A local councillor has hit out at those responsible for the murder of the "highly regarded" local man.
