Man Arrested Over East Belfast Stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the stabbing of a 66-year-old man in east Belfast on Tuesday afternoon.

The attack occurred at Wolsey's tackle shop on the Upper Newtownards Road at about 15:30.

The victim was stabbed in the head and neck and taken to hospital, where he is described as being in a "stable condition".

A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Police have not yet revealed whether the man who was stabbed was working at the shop.

Police are investigating a reported burglary at the home of an elderly woman in east Belfast yesterday, Wednesday 03 April. Entry was gained to a property in Loopland Parade sometime between 7pm and 10pm, with the house ransacked and a small quantity of costume jewellery taken.

Youths Admit To Causing Fire At Belfast Play Park
Two young people aged 11 and 13 have admitted to damaging equipment at Avoniel Play Park in east Belfast. The children were spoken to in the presence of their parents and admitted to being behind the incident which occurred earlier this week. They have both now been referred to the Youth Diversion Officer.

Cyclist Dies After Collapsing On Co Down Road A cyclist has died after being found collapsed on his way home from a cycle in County Down. Cookstown man Philip Corr was found on the Ballynahinch Road in Dromara on the afternoon of Saturday 06 April. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Employee Threatened With Hammer In Belfast Armed Robbery
Police are appealing for information after a man armed with a hammer robbed a shop in south Belfast. A business premises on University Road in the south of the city was targeted between 7pm and 7.30 on Monday 15 April. The armed male entered the shop and demanded money from a member of staff while threatening them with a claw hammer.
