Knife-wielding youths rob shop in Whitehead

A woman was held at knifepoint during the robbery of a shop in Whitehead last night.

At around 9pm last night two armed youths entered the Kings Road shop and demanded money. During the incident, one of the robbers grabbed the shop owner's elderly mother and held a knife to her throat.

A sum of money was then handed over and the pair fled in the direction of a nearby train station.

One of the youths is described as 6'2" tall, of slim build and spiked hair. He was wearing blue jeans, white trainers and a blue hooded top which had two white stripes running down each arm.

The other is described as 5'6" tall, of medium build with slicked down hair. He was wearing a navy hooded top, dark jeans and trainers.

The pair, who are thought to be around 16 to 17 years of age, are believed to have visited the store earlier in the day.

Govt Removal Of Money Intended For NI Schools 'Act Of Vandalism'
The Alliance Party has described the UK Government's reprofiling of money originally intended for integrated and shared schools has "an act of vandalism". The Strangford MLA and Education spokesperson, Nick Mathison, was speaking after the party raised the matter with Education Minister Paul Givan in the Assembly Chamber.

Men Sentenced For Ballymena Drug And Money Laundering Operation
Three men were sentenced for offences linked to a drugs and money laundering operation in the Ballymena area yesterday, 31 January. At Antrim Crown Court, Troy Carley (27), Neil Lowry (30) and Marc Mitchell (32) were sentenced for a number of offences.

Scam Warning Issued Following Taylor Swift Ticket Fraud
The PSNI in Derry City & Strabane have warned people to be wary of scammers following a report this week of a person who thought they'd bought tickets online for a Taylor Swift concert only to find out they'd been swindled. According to police, it was reported that a person had found tickets for the concert on an online platform.
