Elderly Woman Interrupts Burglary

An elderly woman has interrupted a burglary at her own home after returning to find two males inside.

Police in Newtownabbey are appealing for information following the burglary in Rathdrum Park.

The woman returned to her house at about 11:15 on Monday 8 September to find two males inside. Both males made their escape, one through a window while the other pushed passed the householder and ran out the front door.

The woman was not harmed but is suffering from shock and was taken to hospital for observation.

Police said a sum of cash and jewellery was taken in the burglary, but that officers did recover a number of items of jewellery close by.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at Newtownabbey station on the non-emergency number 101.
