Raccoon Escapes Ballymena Pet Shop
A raccoon has escaped from a pet shop in Ballymena, police have confirmed.
Known as Rab, the wild animal escaped from Jungle World on Linenhall Street in the town earlier this week.
He has been spotted at a number of locations across Ballymena, but has not yet been recaptured. The public have been warned not to approach the animal. Anyone who sees Rab is asked to contact police on 101.
Marianne Breen, PSNI Wildlife Officer, commented: "The raccoon has since been spotted in the local area, but it is not thought to pose a risk to people.
"However, members of the public are advised that the racoon is defined as a dangerous wild animal and so it shouldn't be approached."

Dud Animal Medicines Seized In Co Antrim
Medicines Enforcement Officers have seized substantial quantities of unauthorised and illegal veterinary medicines from a residential property in Ballymena. The drugs haul, worth several thousand pounds, included veterinary antibiotics and other veterinary medicines intended for the treatment of large numbers of farm animals.

70-Year-Old Ballymena Man Jailed For Axe Attack
A 70-year-old Ballymena man has been jailed for an axe attack in the town in September 2020. At Laganside Court on Monday, 16th December, William Kirkpatrick, was jailed for nine years in connection with the assault at the Russellstown Road area of Ballymena on Monday 14th September 2020.

Firmus Energy Announces Further 16.31% Price Increase
Firmus Energy has announced a further 16.31% price increase in its Ten Towns network. Due to come into effect from 03 May the price rise is expected to affect some 55,000 customers. The increase follows an earlier rise of 33.57% announced in February this year and is the fourth increase since last spring.
