Woman Arrested In Sean McParland Murder Case

A woman has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Sean McParland in north Belfast in February 1994.

The 41-year-old woman was arrested this morning, Monday 22 September, and has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station for questioning.

55-year-old Mr McParland was shot in Skegoniel Avenue in north Belfast on 17 February thirty years ago while babysitting. He died a week later.

The arrest is part of Operation Stafford, an investigation into a series of murders and other serious crimes by the UVF in north Belfast.

A woman has been arrested by detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of 55-year-old Sean McParland in Skegoneill Avenue in north Belfast in February 1994. The 45-year-old was arrested in the Newtownabbey area, County Antrim, on the morning of Tuesday 10 June.

Man And Woman Arrested Over North Belfast Hate Crime
Police have arrested a man and woman on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with an attack on a house in the Woodvale area of Belfast. A number of windows at the front of the house in Broom Street in the north of the city were smashed at about 20:40 on Monday night.

Belfast Murders Arrest - Man Released
A 57-year-old man arrested in England by detectives investigating the Belfast murders of Gary Convie and Eamon Fox in May 1994 and of Sean McParland in February the same year has been released. 55-year-old Mr McParland was shot in Skegoniel Avenue in north Belfast on 17 February while babysitting and died a week later.
