Post-Mortem To Be Carried Out On Teen

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of a teenager found at a property in L'Derry.

The woman, 19, was discovered unconscious at the bottom of the stairs at a flat in Cromore Gardens at around 2.30am on Thursday.

She was taken to hospital, but later died from her injuries.

Police have said a 21-year-man had been arrested.

It is thought the victim, whose identity has not been formally confirmed, was from Portaferry and had only moved to L'Derry last week to start a nursing degree.

Police have appealed for help in tracing the teenager's movements before 2am on Thursday.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Harvey said: "We know that she was in a nightclub in the city centre with friends. We believe she left the nightclub in a taxi at about 1am.

"We are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances of this tragic death."
