Over 50 Events Announced For International Women's Day
More than 50 events will be taking place across Northern Ireland throughout March to celebrate International Women's Day.
The highlight is the annual IWD March and Rally from Writer’s Square to Belfast City Hall on Saturday 7th March, with a range of speakers, including Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon, addressing the crowd.
This year's main theme is 'No Peace Without Women', the topic of a political discussion at the Ulster Hall at lunchtime on Tuesday 2nd March, featuring female MLAs and activists from the main parties.
Among other events, LGBT feminist activist Grace Petrie will be singing her anti-establishment anthems 'Farewell to Welfare' and 'Emily Davison Blues' on Thursday 5th March in the Hudson Bar. The fight for women's suffrage a century ago is another major theme with a lecture on the leading feminist, activist and artist Sylvia Pankhurst at the Ulster Hall on 6th March.
