Police Appeal Following Armed Robbery In East Belfast

A man armed with a knife has robbed a shop in east Belfast.

The incident occurred at premises on the Albertbridge Road at approximately 7.40am on Saturday morning.

The man climbed over the counter and stole cigarettes and cash.

He made off on foot in the direction of Glenmore Street.

He is described as around 5' 10" tall of stocky build. He was wearing a hoody with the hood up and a baseball cap underneath.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

The 47-year-old, who was charged at the weekend with possessing and concealing criminal property but who denies the charges, appeared by video link from Maghaberry Prison and spoke only to confirm his name.

Man arrested following east Belfast stabbing
Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a stabbing in the Mount area of East Belfast. The victim, a 42-year-old man, sustained a stab wound to the chest and was taken to hospital where his description is described as "serious but stable." The attack occurred at around 8.20am on Monday.

Police Appeal Following Armed Robbery In East Belfast
A man armed with a knife robbed a convenience store in east Belfast on Friday morning. The incident occurred on the Woodstock Road at around 7am. The man threatened two members of staff and made off with a quantity of cigarettes in a red recycling box. He headed on foot in the direction of Willowfield Walk. The man wore a mask and a red hooded top.

Armed Burglar Threatens Man In East Belfast
An armed burglar has threatened a man at his home in east Belfast. The thief held a knife to the man's throat after he returned to his home in the Trillick Street area at around 9pm on Tuesday. The man disturbed the intruder as he was ransacking his house. He threatened him with a knife and fled from the scene. The man was not injured.

Dr Michael Maguire found that the use of Taser had on each occasion been lawful, proportionate and necessary given the risks faced by officers and the danger posed to members of the public.
