Third Man Arrested Over Gerard 'Jock' Davison Murder Released

A third man arrested by police investigating the murder of Gerard 'Jock' Davison has been released.

Mr Davison, 47, a former IRA Commander, was shot several times in the Markets area of Belfast on Tuesday morning.

Three men arrested over the killing have been released unconditionally.

Police do not believe the murder was sectarian.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Justyn Galloway, said: "We have set up an Incident Room at Musgrave police station. I would appeal to anyone with information to contact us on the non-emergency number 101 or, if they don't want to give their details, by using the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

NI Man Jailed For Use Of Criminal Encrypted Communication Channel
A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to a total of 12 years for offences linked to EncroChat – an encrypted communication channel used by criminals. Michael O'Loughlin was arrested in 2020 following the search of a property as part of Operation Venetic, a UK wide operation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) designed to "dismantle EncroChat".
