Suspicious Object In Ballygowan Declared 'Elaborate Hoax'

A suspicious object found in Ballygowan, County Down, in the early hours of Friday morning has been declared an "elaborate hoax".

Residents had to be evacuated from their homes after the object was discovered in the Meadow Road area.

Bomb disposal officers attended the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Appeal Following Petrol Bomb Attack In Banbridge
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a petrol bomb attack in Banbridge, in the early hours of Tuesday 19th March. It was reported that at around 2.10am on Tuesday morning, two petrol bombs were thrown at the back wall of a house in the Castlewellan Road area, causing scorch damage to the wall and a window frame.

Appeal For Information On 'Nasty' Robbery In Omagh
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a "nasty" robbery in Omagh. Police received a report, that at around 1.30am on Monday, 19th February a man aged in his in his 40s was cycling in the Cranny Road area of the town, alongside the river, when he was set upon by a group of six people, dressed in dark clothing with hoods up.

NI Policing Board Meet With PSNI's Paramilitary Crime Task Force
The Northern Ireland Policing Board has held a meeting with officers, staff and partners from the PSNI's Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF). Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Neill provided Policing Board members with an insight into the work of Organised Crime teams, with a focus on the role of the PCTF.

Three In Hospital After Police Vehicle Collides With Another Vehicle
Two police officers and a civilian remain in hospital following a collision in Newry on Saturday, 13 April. It is understood that the police officers were travelling in a police vehicle to attend a separate incident at about 7.30pm when they collided with another vehicle on the Fathom Road.

Justice Minister Announces New PSNI Pay Offer
Justice Minister Naomi Long has confirmed the 2023-24 pay remit for police officers at Federated and Superintending ranks has been agreed. The award is consistent with the recommendations of the independent police remuneration review body.
