Young Girl Dies After Being Hit By Car In Bangor
A young girl has died after she was struck by a car in Bangor, County Down.
The incident happened at Irvine Park just after 5pm on Thursday.
She was taken to hospital, however she died from her injuries.
The driver of the grey Hyundai is helping police with their inquiries.
Alliance North Down MLA Stephen Farry said: "I was very saddened to learn of the death of this young girl. I would like to send my deepest condolences to her family and friends at what must be a difficult time for them.
"The death of this young girl has shocked the local community. This is an absolute tragedy.
"This incident has shown the importance of all road users being vigilant for others. We must ensure that no more lives are lost on our roads. Even one death on our roads is one too many."
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Investigation Launched After Teen Dies Suddenly In Portadown
Police have launched an investigation following the sudden death of a 15-year-old girl. Officers received reports that the teenager was unconscious in the Corcain area of Portadown on Saturday, 20 May. She was taken to hospital, however she died a short time later. Police confirmed a "possible link to drugs".

A 12-year-old girl has died in a crash involving a beach buggy in Newry. The girl was travelling on the buggy with another 14-year-old girl when they collided with a pick-up trick at around 2.50pm on the Flagstaff Road in Cloughogue on Saturday, 18 November. The 12-year-old girl died from her injuries.

Three Teenagers Arrested Over Co Antrim Murder
Police investigating the murder of Nelson Cheung in Co Antrim earlier this month have arrested a three teenage girls. Mr Cheung, 65, died after he was stabbed in an attack on the Caddy Road on 8 January. It is understood Mr Cheung and his wife were attacked after their car was forced off the road.
