Drug Paraphernalia Discovered In L'Derry
Drug paraphernalia has been discovered in a car park in L'Derry.
The items were handed in to the office of the Environment Minister Mark H Durkan after a member of the public found them in a car park opposite the SDLP constituency office on the Strand Road.
SDLP Derry Councillor Shauna Cusack has expressed concern.
She said: "For the past few years our office has been working with residents and those who use the car park as a meeting place to reach a mutual respect and understanding especially regarding noise and issues surrounding anti-social behaviour. While things have progressed to a relatively peaceful state, with complaints having dropped dramatically, I was greatly concerned regarding this latest development.
"I wouldn't like to jump to conclusions about who is responsible for these items but it does raise suspicions that there may be drug taking in the area. I have contacted the PSNI who are taking the matter quite seriously and as a result will be increasing their monitoring of the area."
