Attempted Hijacking In North Belfast

A woman has escaped from an attempted hijacking in north Belfast.

The incident happened in the Ligoniel Road area at around 9pm on Thursday.

A female driver was stopped at traffic lights when one man stood in front of the car and another man tried to open the driver's door.

The woman managed to get away by driving off.

Both of the men are described as being about 18-years-old, about 5'10" tall, and were both wearing dark coloured hooded tops with the hoods up.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a report of a burglary at residential premises in the Wilton Street area of north Belfast. Between 7.30am and around 6.25 pm yesterday, 29 January, it was reported that entry was gained to a property in the area.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for 10 years.

A man has been arrested and suspected Class A and B drugs worth an estimated £90,000 seized in a Paramilitary Crime Task Force operation in Ballymena on Saturday, 10 February.

Elderly Woman Robbed In Co Down
An elderly woman has been robbed in Bangor, Co Down. The incident happened in Castle Park on Monday, 13 June. A man stole the lady's purse and made off in the direction of Abbey Park. The suspect is being described as very tall, and was wearing a black hooded top with blue markings. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.
