Man Armed With Hatchet Robs Shop In North Belfast

A man armed with a hatchet has robbed a shop in north Belfast.

The incident occurred at premises just before 7.30pm on the Serpentine Road on Sunday.

Staff members were threatened by the man and he made off with a sum of cash and cigarettes.

The suspect is described as being of medium build with fair skin and was wearing a blue coat.

A man was arrested on Sunday and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Elsewhere, police have launched an investigation after a man armed with a hammer robbed a shop in the Antrim Road area of north Belfast.

The incident happened at around 7.20pm on Saturday.

The man threatened staff and made off with a sum of cash.

No-one was injured in the incidents.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A man is being treated in hospital following a shooting incident in north Belfast. Police have reported that a 20-year-old man was injured in a paramilitary-style shooting at about 01:00 on Monday morning at Havana Walk in Ardoyne. A Belfast man has been remanded in custody following a weapons and ammunition find in north Belfast on Wednesday. James Samuel Armstrong, 25, of Wilton Street close to the Shankill Road, is charged with having an AK-47 assault rifle, a Browning pistol and ammunition in suspicious circumstances.

Man And Child Escape Shooting Unharmed
A man and a child have escaped uninjured after two shots were fired at a house in north Belfast on Monday evening. The PSNI said the man and child were in the property at Westland Way at about 23:50 on Monday night, when the man heard two shots. He went to the door and observed two strike marks.

Man Arrested After Shots Fired In North Belfast
Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident in north Belfast. It is understood that the 22-year-old man was arrested following reports of shots being fired on Oceanic Avenue at about 21:50 on Thursday. Police say that a parked car was damaged in the incident.
