Call For Farmers To Submit Applications For BDG's

Farmers are being urged to submit their applications for Businss Development Groups (BDG's) as soon as possible.

Business Development Groups mark the first phase of the Farm Business Improvement Scheme under the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. Applications to the BDG's must be submitted by 4pm on December 2014.

Agriculture Minister Michelle O'Neill said: "By participating in Business Development Groups, farmers will be able to work together to gain skills which will help them develop their businesses, learn about new technology and improve farm profitability. They will be supported by a CAFRE Development Adviser and they will have the option to gain a Level 3 qualification.

"With a challenging climate in all sectors, I encourage farmers right across the industry, to apply to this new programme which will assist them in acquiring the tools to make the right decisions about their businesses."
