Council To Host Consultation Over Future Development Of Linen Quarter Area
Belfast City Council is urging the public to put forward their opinions about the the future development of the Linen Quarter area in Belfast.
The Council is holding a public consultation exercise which will run from this month until Friday 11 March.
The Linen Quarter lies to the south of City Hall and includes a number of the city's key business and public sector headquarters as well as existing and planned hotel developments.
In the summer, the council appointed Planit Intelligent Environments, an urban design and landscape architect practice, to prepare a draft public realm analysis and vision for the area. The document, which is now out for public consultation, will contain a number of proposals – among them introducing new public spaces, redefining streets and suggesting design guidance around new development in the Linen Quarter area.
The general public and key stakeholders including businesses in the area have been invited to view the draft document and share their ideas on how the Linen Quarter area will look in the future.
An exhibition illustrating the key elements of the vision for the area will be available to view in the Ulster Hall during February from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm (with the exception of Saturday 20 February).
