Lisburn & Castlereagh Council Host First Business Leaders Lunch

Senior business people from across Lisburn and Castlereagh have attended a Business Leaders Lunch at Lagan Valley Island, hosted by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.

Chairman of the Council's Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart said: "This is the first time we have hosted a Business Leaders lunch and I was delighted to see so many of our local companies attend.

"The aim of the event was to encourage stakeholder engagement at senior level; enabling the Council to outline our plans to assist the business community, and chat informally about the priorities, challenges and key issues facing local companies. It also provided the perfect platform to showcase the great level of support that is available to local businesses, through the Council's Business Solutions Team.

"As a Council we feel it is important to engage with all of our local stakeholders, including companies of all sizes, who have such an important role to play in the continued growth and prosperity of our City", concluded, Alderman Ewart.

At the event, Dr. Theresa Donaldson, Chief Executive of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, provided an update on the Council's performance since the review of public administration in April 2015, outlining new powers transferred to the Council, and how they can benefit businesses. Dr. Donaldson also voiced the vision for Lisburn and Castlereagh, as, 'a place to do business', given its excellent location and transportation infrastructure, and identified key economic development priorities required in order to achieve this vision.

The Council's Business Solutions Team is hoping to host the Business Leaders Lunch on a regular basis, as part of an ongoing programme of engagement with local businesses. A full package of business support is now available to businesses within the Council area including Sales Development, Trade Development, Innovation, Tailored Mentoring and Procurement.
