Ulster Bank Seeks 60 Redundancies

Finance union IBOA has expressed concerns after the Ulster Bank told staff it is seeking up to 60 redundancies from its branches in Northern Ireland.

The bank also said it is to stop Saturday opening hours at 11 of its branches from 07 May.

The branches affected are: Armagh, Ballymena, Bangor, Coleraine, Downpatrick, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Magherafelt, Newtownards, Omagh and Portadown.

"Staff in retail banking are the human face of Ulster Bank who engage directly with customers every minute of every day. They know the challenges customers face and do their utmost to help and provide quality service to customer," said Union General Secretary, Larry Broderick.

"Reducing the number of staff in these crucial roles is not sustainable in the long term. It is being driven by a short-term cost-cutting agenda."
