Cocaine seizure worth £1m says drug squad

Drugs squad officers have recovered cocaine worth an estimated street value of £1 million.

The seizures were made in the Lisburn and Lurgan areas on Thursday.

Welcoming the capture, Security Minister, Jane Kennedy, said: "This is another significant success in our relentless campaign against organised criminals. I pay tribute to the efforts of the police, and other law enforcement agencies, who are working tirelessly to remove these gangsters from our streets.

"The confiscation of these drugs has prevented further misery in our society. We all have a role to play in ensuring that these people, who exploit the vulnerability of others, are brought to justice."

Police said the seizure was part of an on going investigation into organised crime in the mid-Ulster area.

One person has been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.
