Discovery Of Petrol Bombs Could Have Caused Chaos - Attwood
SDLP West Belfast MLA Alex Attwood has said that a stash of petrol bombs discovered by police on Wednesday, 13 July, could have created chaos in the area.
Mr Attwood said condemned those behind the petrol bombs.
He said: "The discovery of a stash of 16 petrol bombs in the Colinview street area of west Belfast demonstrates that there are still elements within our communities which are intent on chaos and carnage over the marching season rather than reconciliation and resolution. They must not be allowed to prevail.
"We are lucky today that a reckless initial attempt to injure PSNI officers, who were standing with local young people, failed as the petrol bomb did not ignite. Those behind this obviously had no concern for the lives of the police officer nor for the safety of the young people in the immediate area."
