Man Arrested After Woman Sexually Assaulted In Co Down

A man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a woman in Downpatrick, Co Down.

The attacked happened at a bus station in the Market Street area on Wednesday, 03 August.

A women, aged in her 20s, was reportedly sexually assaulted.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested a short time later and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "This incident occurred in a public place at a busy time of the day, therefore anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact Downpatrick Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 543 of 03/08/16."

Suspected Firearm Recovered During PSNI Operation In Ardmore
The PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit (TIU) have recovered a suspected firearm in Ardmore in L'Derry. During a search in the Rushall Road area, the suspected firearm was located in the vicinity of a graveyard. Enquiries continue, and the suspected firearm will now be the subject of forensic testing.
