Pensioners robbed in separate incidents

Two pensioners have been left traumatised following separate robberies at their homes in Counties Antrim and Down last night.

The first incident saw an 86-year-old woman attacked by three masked men inside her Randalstown home at around 9.30pm last night. The men fired two gun shots and assaulted the woman's son-in-law before making off in the family's jeep with a substantial sum of money and jewellery. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.

Meanwhile, an 85-year-old woman has been assaulted by three masked men at her Crawfordsburn Road home in Bangor. The pensioner was dragged from her back garden by the men, who then threatened to shoot her dog if she didn't give them money. They then ransacked the woman's house before leaving with a sum of money.

Police have appealed for witnesses to either attack to contact them immediately.
