SeaCat poised to axe nearly 80 jobs
Leading ferry operator, SeaCat looks set to axe nearly 80 jobs after the company revealed plans to cut its Belfast to Troon operation down from 10 to eight months a year.
In a statement released late on Monday, the company said it was talking to unions about the possibility of changes to its service in an effort to boost profits.
It is believed that the current Belfast to Troon service has been operating at a loss for several years leaving management with no option but to either cut operating times or face the complete closure of the service.
A final decision by the company is not expected until next month however it seems likely that jobs will go.
