Murder Investigation Launched After Man Dies From Head Injuries

A murder investigation has been launched after a 22-year-old man died in hospital on Saturday, 18 February.

Conan Anderson sustained serious head injuries after a night out just over two weeks ago.

He died in hospital from his injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Montgomery said: "I am now treating Conan's death as murder and I am appealing for anyone with any information about the incident at Arthur Lane in the early hours of Monday 06 February or any information which could be of assistance to my investigation to contact detectives at Musgrave Street quoting reference number 1034 08/02/17. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

A 27-year-old was arrested in north Belfast on Thursday, 09 February, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Suspected Firearm Recovered During PSNI Operation In Ardmore
The PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit (TIU) have recovered a suspected firearm in Ardmore in L'Derry. Man Attacked In East Belfast
A man is being treated in hospital after being assaulted in east Belfast. The incident happened outside licensed premises in the Upper Newtownards Road area at around 1.30am on Sunday, 04 February. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
