Concerns Raised Over Coty Job Losses

The Minister for Jobs Mary Mitchell O'Connor has said that she regrets the announcement of job losses at the Coty cosmetics plant in Nenagh.

The Minister said: "My first thoughts are with the workers and their families affected by this decision.

"The Government will make all appropriate State support available to the employees impacted and intensive efforts will be made by IDA to market the site. My Department and the Department of Social Protection together with our State Agencies will do their upmost to help workers transition and find new employment opportunities, including the provision of retraining if required.

"The IDA has already begun efforts to identify and secure a new investor for Coty's site in Nenagh. I am confident given the regions long track record as a home to global businesses that the site will prove attractive to investors looking to locate or expand in Ireland.

Having the global technology company First Data located in the region will act as an important attractor to other companies seeking to locate in the region. Recruitment for the First Data roles is currently underway.

"I am confident that as our economy continues to grow new investment can be secured for the region."
