Council Consults On First Stage Of Local Development Plan
Belfast City Council is consulting on the first stage of the Local Development Plan (LDP) and the public are being urged to have their say.
Once adopted, the LDP will be used to shape the city and inform decision making on planning applications until 2035.
The LDP's vision is to promote development which enhances communities' health and wellbeing, creates a more vibrant economy, improves connectivity, responds to environmental challenges and both protects and enhances our natural settings and green space.
Local information events have been taking place across Belfast since the end of January to engage with communities and businesses and gather views. Hundreds of comments and suggestions have already been submitted through social media.
Chair of Belfast City Council's Planning Committee, Councillor Peter Johnston, said: "It's vital that we get Belfast people's views on where new infrastructure will be located and which areas will be protected as we support the creation of up to 46,000 new jobs, allocate land for 37,000 high quality new homes and increase Belfast's population to over 400,000 by 2035."
