Fresh Search For Disappeared Victim's Body To Begin In France

A fresh search is to get underway in northern France on Tuesday, 02 May, for the remains of one of Northern Ireland's Disappeared.

Seamus Ruddy, 32, was abducted in Paris and killed by the INLA in 1985. He was secretly buried in France.

The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) will start the search at a forest at Pont-de-l'Arche outside Rouen.

Mr Ruddy was from Newry and was teaching in Paris.

Police have found a quantity of weapons during a search in north Belfast. Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force carried out the search in the Antrim Road area on Monday, 04 December. An assault rifle, ammunition and other weapons were recovered. The items have been sent for forensic examination. No further details have been released.

Human Remains Found In France Confirmed To Be Seamus Ruddy
Human remains found in a forest in France have been confirmed as Disappeared victim Seamus Ruddy. Mr Ruddy, from Newry, was 32 when he was abducted and killed by the INLA in Paris, 1985. The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) has confirmed his body was found at Pont-de-l´Arche near Rouen in northern France.

Remains Found In 'Disappeared' Case
Human remains have been uncovered in Oristown, Co Meath, it has been reported. The discovery was made where a search for the body of one of Northern Ireland's 'Disappeared' has been taking place since August. Brendan Megraw, 23, was abducted from his home in west Belfast, murdered and secretly buried by the IRA in April 1978.

PSNI In Joint Search Operation
A joint search operation has been launched by the PSNI, South Wales Police and the UK Border Agency for a missing 34-year-old man. It is understood that the agencies are looking for Khalil Fawzy, who was allegedly last seen on Newry Road, Warrenpoint Harbour, at around 16:45 on Sunday.

Woman Arrested Over False Reports Of Baby Falling From A Ferry
A 37-year-old woman has been arrested for wasting police time after false reports a baby had fallen into the Belfast Lough. A major search operation was carried out, however it was called off in Thursday afternoon. Police said they no longer believed a baby had fallen into the water.

Funeral for dinghy tragedy teenager
A Coleraine teenager, who drowned off the coast of Castlerock, is to be buried today. Robert McMullan, 15, died when the dinghy he was in with a friend got into difficulties and capsized on Tuesday. He was airlifted to hospital, but died later. His friend managed to swim to shore and raised the alarm.

Man arrested over Belfast cannabis find
Following a planned search operation in south Belfast yesterday, officers seized around 14 cannabis plants and a quantity of paraphernalia associated with drugs. One man was arrested following the raid at the property in the Stranmillis Wharf area of the city, however was later released pending a report.

Three Men Arrested After Police Seize Around £250k Of Cocaine
Police have seized cocaine, worth an estimated street value of £250,000, during a search in Crumlin. Two men, aged 22 and 42, were arrested after police searched a vehicle on the Dundrod Road at Nutts Corner at around 4.45pm on Thursday, 30 November. A 30-year-old man was also arrested after a second vehicle was searched in Kilrea.

Memorial Mass Held For Irish Air France victim
A memorial mass has been held in Roscrea for Dr Aisling Butler, one of the Irish passengers on the Air France jet that crashed last week. The 26-year-old was a native of Ballinakill in Roscrea.
