Communities Urged To Apply For Funding Under 'Live Here Love Here' Scheme

Community and school groups across Ards and North Down are being urged to apply for funding of up to £5,000 under the 'Live Here Love Here' Small Grants Scheme.

The scheme tackles issues such as poor environmental quality, littering and dilapidation by encouraging volunteers to take practical action in their local communities.

There is a total of £57,000 funding available thanks to a Recycling Community Investment Fund that has been established by Ards and North Down Borough Council.

Director of Environment for Ards and North Down Borough Council, David Lindsay, expanded: "Last year Ards and North Down residents recycled 133% more food waste saving an incredible £1million. These savings will be re-invested in a range of community projects across the borough, that will make the area a better place to live, work, visit and invest, one of which is the Live Here Love Here Small Grants Scheme."

The programme is being delivered by the Council in conjunction with environmental charity, Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), Tourism Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Choice Housing, McDonald's and Coca Cola.
