Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A woman has been convicted for claiming benefits she was not entitled to at Newtownards Magistrates' Court.
Caroline Bentley claimed Jobseeker's Allowance totalling £3,749 while failing to declare employment. She was given a two year conditional discharge.
Ms Bentley has repaid any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
Ecocem Ireland Unveils Port Of Medway Bulk Import Terminal
Ecocem Ireland has invested £2.5 million to create a new bulk import terminal in the Port of Medway.
The facility at Sheerness has been developed in partnership with Peel Ports to help the company capitalise on the potential to supply high performance, low carbon cement to the London/south east construction market.
Ecocem Ireland built it's first import facility at Runcorn in early 2016. This new terminal will allow the company to supply a further 250,000 tonnes of low carbon cement alternative each year.
Overall, the project forms part of Ecocem's Materials Strategy to develop export markets from its existing facilities in Ireland, Holland and France.
Call For People Not To Engage In Revenge Attacks
Alliance Leader Naomi Long has said it is vital people do not engage in revenge attacks, after a man was killed following a van being driven into worshippers close to a north London mosque.
Ten people were also injured in the attack, which is being treated as a terrorist incident, near Finsbury Park mosque. A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
"My thoughts are with all those who have been left bereaved and injured as a result of this horrific attack," said Mrs Long.
"It is vital we do not let this develop into a pattern of revenge attacks. The atmosphere allowing and in some cases encouraging attacks on Muslims does nothing but play into the hands of extremists, while at the same time targeting innocent people.
"Instead of using our diversity to divide us and play into the politics of fear, we need to celebrate it and highlight how it makes us stronger as a community. Only by doing that will we stop the conditions radicalising people and end the cycle of violence."

Heart attacks kill six people in Northern Ireland every week, according to research by the British Heart Foundation (BHF). 314 people aged under 65 died from heart failure last year. In 2013/14, there were 5,400 heart attacks treated in Northern Ireland hospitals. This figure has risen from 4,600 the year before.
