Bombardier Order Welcomed
The DUP have welcomed the the letter of intent from a European customer to Bombardier for up to 61 CSeries jets.
MP Gavin Robinson said: "With 31 firm orders and options for a further 30 jets this could mean an order valued up to $4.8billion for Bombardier if all 30 options are exercised. It is a welcome piece of news for the company as a whole and obviously for the Belfast plant.
"The timing too is significant and is a vote of confidence in the joint venture between Bombardier and Airbus. I hope this might be the first of many new orders for this ground-breaking aircraft."
Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle said: "It is fantastic to hear of another order for Bombardier C-Series aircraft and this positive demonstration of consumer confidence in an innovative product after a turbulent few months.
"Bombardier is a major employer in East Belfast and vital for the wide supply chain across Northern Ireland and this order is a boost for skilled manufacturing staff and the sector alike."
