Two Men Attacked During Aggravated Burglary In Co Down

Two men have been injured after being attacked during an aggravated burglary in Newtownards, Co Down.

A number of masked men, armed with weapons, attacked a house in the Shackleton Walk area at around 9.40pm on Thursday, 16 November.

Two men, who were in the property at the time, were assaulted in what police described as a "savage attack".

One man sustained an injury to his arm and the second man suffered an injury to his wrist.

Two vehicles parked nearby were also damaged.

Elsewhere, two men have been arrested in connection with a hijacking in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

A Vauxhall Corsa was stolen from a woman in the Grays Lane area by two men at around 8am on Friday, 17 November.

They made off in the vehicle in the direction of the Shore Road, and it was later discovered on the Lylehill Road in Templepatrick.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Sentenced For Murdering His Friend
An east Belfast man will spend a minimum of 10 years of a life sentence in prison for the murder of his friend last year. 30-year-old Kenneth Cowan of Titania Street, off the Cregagh Road, pled guilty last December to the murder of Brian Burke and was handed an automatic life sentence.

Police Granted Further Time To Question Murder Suspects
Police investigating a recent murder in Clogher have been granted an additional 28 hours to question two people on suspicion of murder. The body of 30-year-old Pat Ward was found in an alleyway on Saturday morning, 09 February. Police immediately launched a murder enquiry following the discovery.

Police Release E-Fit Image Of Jim Donegan Murder Suspect
Police have released an e-fit image of the suspect who gunned down a man outside a school in west Belfast. Jim Donegan, 43, was brutally murdered in front of schoolchildren and parents on Tuesday 04 December 2018 as he waited in his car to collect his 13-year-old son on the Glen Road.
