Suspected Burglar Arrested Following Reports Of Suspicious Activity

A suspected burglar has been arrested after a member of the public reported suspicious activity in Newtownabbey.

PSNI officers attended the scene in the Lynda Meadows area at around 4.20am on Thursday, 11 January.

Police said they found an abandoned car containing suspected stolen items inside.

I would strongly encourage everyone in the Antrim and Newtownabbey District to take this opportunity to review your own security measures and to report any suspicious activity on your street, with as much detail as possible, straightaway."

Around 365,000 cigarettes were discovered during a police search of premises at School Terrace in Sion Mills, following reports of suspicious activity in the area. Three Men Arrested After Suspected Firearm Recovered During Car Search
Three men, aged 26, 30 and 36, have been arrested after police recovered a suspected firearm during a car search in Belfast. The arrests were made in the Clifton Street area just after 10pm on Wednesday, 18 July. All three suspects are being detained at Musgrave Serious Crime Suite. The suspected firearm is to undergo a forensic examination.

Warning Issued To Public Not To Touch Suspicious Objects In Carryduff
Police have issued a warning to the public not to touch any suspicious objects in the Carryduff area in south Belfast. The warning comes after reports of suspicious activity in the Belfast Road between the Carryfuff roundabout and the junction of Ballyknockan Road.

Skimming Device Found On ATM
A skimming device has been found on an ATM in the Castlereagh area of Belfast. It is understood the device, which has since been removed, was found on an ATM at a service station on the Milltown Road. It is thought to have been attached to the machine on Saturday morning.

Murder inquiry launched after Markets body find
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered in a flat in the Markets area of Belfast. Neighbours found the body in an upstairs flat in Friendly Place at 7.45am on Monday. Police believe the 38-year-old man had been beaten. Two men have been arrested by detectives and are helping them with their inquiries.

Two men have been arrested by police following reports of suspicious activity in the North Circular Road area of Belfast. Police attended the scene and arrested two males on suspicion of burglary and possession of class A and B drugs. No further information is available.

Security Alert In Newtownabbey
A security alert is underway in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim. It is understood a number of homes have been evacuated from the Arthur Road area. Police and bomb disposal officers are at the scene following reports that a suspicious object had been found. The road has been closed to traffic between Whitewell Road and the Abbey Centre.

'Suspicious Vehicle' Sparks Glengormley Security Alert
A security alert is continuing in Newtownabbey, following reports of a suspicious vehicle in the Ballyclare Road area on Friday (July 8). Army technical officers are attending the scene. The Ballyclare Road, near the entrance to Glengormley Park remains closed, as well as the junction of Portland Avenue and Ballyclare Road.

Police in County Antrim have appealed for information after they received reports of a man in a red car acting suspiciously near two boys in their teens on Monday evening. The incident happened at around 4.45pm in the Pantridge Road area of Poleglass in west Belfast.

Pregnant Woman's Death 'Not Suspicious'
A pregnant woman, aged in her 20s, has died in a house fire in Ballycastle, Co Antrim. Emergency crews attended the scene in the Whitepark Road area on Tuesday, 03 October. The woman died at the scene. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

The PSNI is currently investigating reports that an explosive device has been left in the Currynierin area of County L'Derry. Police are understood to be making enquiries and have asked residents in the area to remain vigilant. Any suspicious activity or objects should be notified to the PSNI.
