Yellow Warning For Strong Winds Issued In NI

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds throughout Northern Ireland.

The warning comes into place at 1am on Wednesday, 24 January, until 2pm.

Gusts of up to 50 to 60mph are expected.

The high winds may affect public transport services and delays are expected.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Over Northern Ireland peak winds are expected during the early hours of Wednesday. Over western Scotland, including the Western Isles, the highest winds are expected to be late in the night and early on Wednesday morning and thus coincide with the morning rush hour. By late morning and early afternoon the highest winds will be confined to the far north of mainland Scotland, Orkney and Shetland."

Motorists and the public are being urged to take extra care.
