Armed Man Robs Shop In South Belfast

Police have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at a shop in south Belfast.

A man, believed to have been armed with a handgun, entered the premises on the Lockview Road just before 10.15pm on tuesday, 30 January.

He made off with a sum of cash and a significant amount of cigarettes and scratch cards.

The suspect has been described as in his late 40s or early 50s and was wearing a grey top with a yellow hi-vis vest, black boots, faded blue jeans and a black beanie hat. His face was covered but It is believed he wore glasses with a thin frame.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Dies In Armagh Crash
A man has died following a crash between a lorry and a car in Co Armagh. The collision took place on the Monaghan Road shortly before 7.15am this morning, Wednesday 15 January. One man suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The road remains closed and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes for their journeys.

A woman working in a Co Down off-licence has been left badly shaken after a masked knife-wielding man robbed the premises. The business in the Movilla Street area of Newtownards was targeted shortly before 8pm on Tuesday evening, 14 January.

A police officer accidentally fired a shot at a car believed to contain armed paramilitaries, a report by the Police Ombudsman has revealed. The incident happened in south Belfast on 6 November 2013.
