Armed Man Robs Shop In South Belfast

Police have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at a shop in south Belfast.

A man, believed to have been armed with a handgun, entered the premises on the Lockview Road just before 10.15pm on tuesday, 30 January.

He made off with a sum of cash and a significant amount of cigarettes and scratch cards.

The suspect has been described as in his late 40s or early 50s and was wearing a grey top with a yellow hi-vis vest, black boots, faded blue jeans and a black beanie hat. His face was covered but It is believed he wore glasses with a thin frame.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police Appeal After Man Robs Shop In Belfast
An armed man robbed a shop in Belfast on Sunday morning. The man, armed with a hammer, threatened staff at the premises on the Belmont Road and demanded money shortly after 9.30am. He made off with a sum of cash. The man, believed to be around 20 years old, is described as 5’ 10” tall and he was wearing a black tracksuit and a black cap.

A masked man, believed to be armed with a handgun, entered the shop on the lower Antrim Road at around 9pm. Man shot in west Belfast
A man has been wounded in a gun attack at a house in west Belfast. A police spokesperson said that a caller to the house in Hawthorn Street had produced a gun and shot the man in the side. An ambulance was called to the scene, however the man was not taken to hospital. His injuries have been described as minor.

A teenager has been remanded in custody today charged with the rape of a 15-year-old girl in west Belfast ten days ago. The victim was walking along the Blacks Road on August 6 when she was set upon by two people, one of whom raped her twice.

The armed robbery happened at a shop on the Antrim road on Saturday 31 October last year. A man entered the shop armed with a claw hammer and threatened female staff members. A man armed with a hatchet has robbed a shop in north Belfast. The incident occurred at premises just before 7.30pm on the Serpentine Road on Sunday. Staff members were threatened by the man and he made off with a sum of cash and cigarettes. The suspect is described as being of medium build with fair skin and was wearing a blue coat.

Police 'Right' To Use Taser On Man Who Threatened To Get A Gun
Police officers were right to use Taser when a man, who was reported to have taken an overdose, threatened to get a gun, according to an investigation by the Police Ombudsman. The use of Taser during the incident, which happened in Lisburn on 19 July 2011, was referred by police to the Police Ombudsman's Office for independent investigation.

Two police drivers have been disciplined for driving at excessive speeds without justification in Tyrone in October 2016. A member of the public contacted the Police Ombudsman's Office to report that two police cars had overtaken him at speed as he approached the end of the Moneymore to Cookstown dual carriageway at Cookstown at around 8pm.
