17-Year-Old Charged In Connection With L'Derry Disorder

A 17-year-old male has been charged in connection with a number of offences linked with recent rioting in L'Derry.

He will appear at Omagh Magistrates Court later today, 16 July on charges including possessing petrol bombs in suspicious circumstances, riotous behaviour and throwing petrol bombs.

The suspect was arrested following six days of trouble in L'Derry, with dozens of petrol bombs thrown and attacks carried out on police.

PSNI Confirms Flag Violence Arrests
The PSNI has confirmed a total of eight arrests were made as a result of disorder over the Belfast City Hall union flag issue. Three police officers were injured when missiles ranging from petrol bombs, paint bombs, fireworks and heavy masonry were thrown by loyalist protesters. PSNI vehicles were attacked with hatchets and sledge hammers.

Man Due In Court Charged With Kevin Conway Murder
A 27-year-old man is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court today, Monday, 29 January, charged with the murder of Kevin Conway. The man was arrested in west Belfast on 09 January, by detectives investigating the murder. Police have said that as is usual procedure, the charge will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Four Suspected Pipe Bombs Recovered In Creggan Operation
Four suspected pipe bombs have been recovered by police from inside the City Cemetery in Creggan, L'Derry, following a public safety operation on Tuesday 11th April. The operation was implemented following the discovery of a suspected pipe bomb in the cemetery just after 6.30am yesterday morning.

Police Appeal After Children Cause Disorder In L'Derry
Police are appealing for information after children aged between 10 and 12 were reportedly causing disorder in L'Derry. The incident happened on the Madam's Bank Road area shortly before 9pm on Wednesday. Police received reports that several young people were throwing petrol bombs onto the road and setting traffic lights on fire.

Shot Fired At Police In Lurgan
A gunshot was fired and over 100 petrol bombs thrown at police cordons in Lurgan, Co Armagh. The incident occurred in the Lake Street area on Sunday night. A total of 25 paint bombs, bricks and other masonry were also thrown by a large crowd who gathered at around 9pm and remained until the early hours of the morning.
