L'Derry Teenager Dies After Boat Capsizes In Malin Head

A Londonderry teenager and a man in his 60s have died after a boat capsized off Malin Head in Donegal.

According to reports, the incident was reported by members of the public after they heard shouting and three people were seen in the water.

The coastguard, Lough Swilly RNLI and the Irish police attended the scene and rescued a 16-year-old boy and two men from the water.

The teenager was taken by air ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. A man, understood to be from Donegal and aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A third man, said to be from Derry and aged in his 50s, remains in Altnagelvin Hospital.

It is understood that the teenager and man from L'Derry were in Donegal for a fishing trip.

An investigation into the cause of the capsize is underway.

Four Charged In Connection With Blake Newland Murder
Four people are due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court charged in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Blake Newland. The Limavady teenager died after being found with serious stab wounds at a house in the town on Friday, 02 February. Detectives investigating the murder, have now charged two men, aged 27 and 29, with murder.
