Appeal Issued After Rioter Throws Petrol Bomb At Van In L'Derry

Police are renewing their appeal for information after a video posted on social media shows a rioter throwing a petrol bomb at a van in L'Derry.

The incident happened in the Lecky Road area at around 8.30pm on Thursday, 12 July.

The lit petrol bomb hit the windscreen of the van, which was moving, and an onlooker reprimanded the person who threw it.

A PSNI spokesperson described it as a "shocking incident".

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Pair Escape Arson Attack On Larne Home
Police have said it is lucky no one was killed after a wheelie bin was set on fire inside a house in Larne. The blaze was started at the property in the Fairway area of the town at around 9.15pm on Saturday 08 December. Police and the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene and dealt with the blaze.

Further Arrest Over L'Derry Murder
Detectives investigating the murder of a father-of-nine in L'Derry at the weekend have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. The body of Eddie Meenan, 52, was discovered just off Creggan Street, near his home, in the early hours of Sunday 25 November.

Gang Throws Petrol Bomb Into Police Car
A masked gang has thrown a petrol bomb into an unmarked police car. A group of men surrounded the car, smashing it with iron bars before throwing a petrol bomb inside. The unmarked police car was parked outside Alliance Party MP Naomi Long’s east Belfast office.

Petrol Bomb Attacks Target Fountain - Again
A fourth petrol bomb attack on a Londonderry interface has further heightened tensions in the area. The mainly Protestant Fountain estate in central Derry has seen several attacks which have this week led to warnings from both nationalist and unionist politicians that someone could be killed in a confrontation.

Sinn Féin Condemns Petrol Bomb Attack
Sinn Féin Councillor Niall Ó Donnghaile has condemned a further petrol bomb attack in the Short Strand area. Police are investigating the incident, which saw four petrol bombs thrown at an east Belfast interface around 10.30pm on Monday night.

House targeted in suspected petrol bomb attack
Police in Co Down are appealing for information following a suspected petrol bomb attack at a house in Saintfield. The incident occurred at a property on the Listooder Road at around 12.45am on Monday. Scorch damage was caused to the front door of the house and a door mat was also destroyed by the fire.

Houses damaged in separate petrol bomb attacks
Two houses have been attacked in separate petrol bomb attacks in Belfast and Downpatrick. In north Belfast, a device was thrown through a glass pane in the front door of a house on the Crumlin Road at around 11pm last night. In Downpatrick, a house in the Mount Crescent area suffered scorch damage in the early hours of Friday morning.
