Met Office Issues Yellow Weather Warning For NI

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind covering Northern Ireland to take affect on Friday, 12 October.

A spell of windy weather is expected which may have the potential to cause some disruption.

The warning is in place from 3am on until midnight.

Possible disruption may include:

• A small chance of injuries and danger to life with the potential for large waves and beach material to be thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads or properties.

• Possible closure of some roads and bridges.

• A slight chance of damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.

• Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.

• Chance of power cuts, with the potential to affect other services such as mobile phone coverage.

Warning Issued After Thousands Lost To Gift Card Scam
The PSNI have issued a warning after a L'Derry resident lost thousands of pounds in a gift card scam. According to police, the person was contacted online and told that they had won money. They were told they needed to send online gift cards to verify themselves. This continued for some time before the scam was spotted and stopped.

Yellow Weather Warning Issued For Parts Of NI
A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office for parts of Northern Ireland on Wednesday, 31 January. The weather warning comes into effect at 9.00 am and is due to remain in place until 5.00 pm with warnings that it could impact travel, cause power outages and lead to large waves in coastal areas.
