Man Stabbed And Woman Punched In South Belfast Mugging

A man has been stabbed and a woman punched in an attempted mugging in south Belfast.

The incident happened in the Ormeau Road area in the early hours of Wednesday 31 October.

Police revealed that the couple were approached by women wearing dark clothing and demanded money and cigarettes, but had neither to give them.

The man was stabbed in his upper leg and head, while the woman was punched in the face.

Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

The culprits fled the scene empty handed and police said it is unclear which direction they headed in.

Injured Dogs, Cash And Suspected Drugs Seized During Searches
A quantity of suspected cannabis, drugs paraphernalia and over £10,000 in cash has been seized during searches on Tuesday, 13 April, by the Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF). The incident happened in the Summerhill Road area of Dunmurry shortly after 10.25pm on Wednesday, 14 April. Inspector McCullough said: "While our enquiries are at an early stage, this shooting bears the hallmarks of a paramilitary style assault.

City Hall To Go Dark To Mark 80th Anniversary Of The Belfast Blitz
The City Hall in Belfast will go dark this Thursday evening, 15 April, to mark the 80th anniversary of the Belfast Blitz. Homes across Belfast will be able to see two searchlights in the night sky, being beamed from the grounds of the City Hall at around 9pm.

Man Charged Over Stabbing Incidents In West Belfast
A man has been charged over a number of stabbing incidents in west Belfast. The incidents happened in the early hours on Monday morning, 12 April. The charges include threats to kill, common assault and criminal damage. The 39-year-old suspect is to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today, 13 April.

Nightingale Facility De-Escalated
The Nightingale facility at Belfast City Hospital has been de-escalated. The Belfast Health Trust described the move as a "significant milestone" in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. Patients with Covid will be treated at the Mater Hospital.
