Stormy Weekend For NI With 70mph Winds Forecast

A spell of stormy weather is likely to bring disruption to Northern Ireland over the weekend with travel delays and cancellations.

A powerful low pressure system is set to arrive on Friday 07 December, prompting wind speeds of up to 80mph throughout the day.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the most northernly areas and remains in place until midnight.

The public has been warned of potential power cuts, large waves in coastal areas, fallen trees, damage to property and a risk of flying debris.

Localised flooding could also become an issue in some parts.

A strong jet stream is expected to cause an unsettled weather pattern over the weekend, with temperatures set to drop next week.
