Murder Investigation Launched After Body Found In Newcastle

Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in Newcastle, County Down.

The 29-year-old was found in a flat in the Burrendale Park Road area on Saturday, 08 December.

Police received a report of the man's body at around 1.45pm.

Following a post-mortem on Sunday, the death is now being treated as murder.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter McKenna issued an appeal to anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact them on non-emergency line 101, quoting reference number 712 of 08 December.

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the discovery of a man's body in east Belfast yesterday afternoon. William Weir, 46, from the McMaster Street area of the city, was found in a house in the Tower Street area of the Newtownards Road at around 4.45pm.

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident on the Limestone Road in north Belfast on Friday night. Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Crossbow Attack
A man has been charged with attempted murder following a crossbow attack in south Belfast on Wednesday evening. A 29-year-old man was shot with a crossbow while he was in a parked car in the Belgravia Avenue area. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A woman was also in the car at the time of the attack but was not injured.

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. The man was charged with 30 offences, 17 of which relate to theft and 13 of fake accounting. He will appear before a court in Omagh on November 11.

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a woman in Co Tyrone. Mairead McCallion, 36, was found at a property in Castleview Court, Omagh, on Sunday morning. She had suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital, but died a day later.

Man Arrested In Bangor Shooting Investigation
A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the attempted murder of two men in Bangor. The male victims, aged 24 and 33, were shot as they sat in a car in the Eastway area of the Whitehill estate at about 00:45 on 10 February. UTV has reported that the UVF are thought to have been behind the attack.

An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a man's body in a commercial property in Belfast city centre on Thursday afternoon. Police have described the man's death as "sudden". According to reports the man was aged 59 and found at a health and leisure club popular with the gay community.

Man Arrested For Murder Following Carrick Body Find
A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after a woman's body was found in Carrickfergus. The body of the 29-year-old woman was found in a house in the Pattersons Row area of the Co. Antrim town around 6pm on Tuesday. Police appeal following body find in house
The body of a man has been found at a house in Co Antrim on Thursday. The man, who is believed to be in his 50's, was discovered at the house in Ladysmith Terrace in the Harryville area of Ballymena at around 9pm.
