Murder Investigation Launched After Body Found In Newcastle

Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in Newcastle, County Down.

The 29-year-old was found in a flat in the Burrendale Park Road area on Saturday, 08 December.

Police received a report of the man's body at around 1.45pm.

Following a post-mortem on Sunday, the death is now being treated as murder.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter McKenna issued an appeal to anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact them on non-emergency line 101, quoting reference number 712 of 08 December.

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the discovery of a man's body in east Belfast yesterday afternoon. William Weir, 46, from the McMaster Street area of the city, was found in a house in the Tower Street area of the Newtownards Road at around 4.45pm.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Crossbow Attack
A man has been charged with attempted murder following a crossbow attack in south Belfast on Wednesday evening. A 29-year-old man was shot with a crossbow while he was in a parked car in the Belgravia Avenue area. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A woman was also in the car at the time of the attack but was not injured.

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. The man was charged with 30 offences, 17 of which relate to theft and 13 of fake accounting. He will appear before a court in Omagh on November 11.
