Murder inquiry launched after discovery of man's body

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the discovery of a man's body in east Belfast yesterday afternoon.

William Weir, 46, from the McMaster Street area of the city, was found in a house in the Tower Street area of the Newtownards Road at around 4.45pm.

Forensic examinations are being carried out at the scene and a police presence remains in the area.

Three people who were taken into police custody following the incident are still being held for questioning.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area or have any information relating to the murder, to contact police at Strandtown on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
