DUP set Friday as date to unveil devolution proposals
DUP leader, Ian Paisley has confirmed that proposals presented to Prime Minister Tony Blair today on the future of devolved government in Northern Ireland would be unveiled on Friday.
Dr Paisley confirmed the news following a meeting with Mr Blair at 10 Downing Street.
The North Antrim MP described today's meeting as "profitable" saying that they had made "a good start from his party's point of view".
Thursday's meeting follows this week's Good Friday Agreement review meeting in which all the main political parties met at Stormont to outline the views and wants from any future devolved government.
Dr Paisley, of course, finds himself in the enviable position of being the chief voice of unionism following last November's elections success.
His party have actually surprised many commentators with their pro-active approach to this week's review, however they remain opposed to any power sharing with Sinn Féin without the full disbandment of the IRA and all its weaponry.
Today's meeting follows last week's discussions between the DUP and the Irish Government in London.

UUP cancel Ruling Council meeting
A meeting of the Ulster Unionist Party's Ruling Council has been cancelled because of a failure to reach a deal with republicans. Party officers met at Cunningham House on Monday night and decided to call off the meeting which was due to take place on Wednesday in the Ramada Hotel in Belfast.

UUP/DUP meeting still at 'will they, won't they' stage
DUP deputy leader, Peter Robinson, has reissued his party’s invitation to the UUP to hold a bi-lateral meeting. The east Belfast MP's offer came after what Mr Robinson called a "change of heart" from the UUP following recent press reports.

May elections to go ahead claims DUP
The DUP have claimed that the government intends to go ahead with assembly elections in May following a meeting with Secretary of State Paul Murphy this morning. DUP leader Dr Ian Paisley said the Mr Murphy had given him assurances during today's hour-long meeting that elections will take place.

Government plans to licence on-the-runs
The Government has announced plans to deal with the question of fugitive terrorist suspects, the so-called on-the-runs (OTRs). The scheme is based upon the proposals set out in May 2003 for a two-stage process and fulfils commitments to address the issue of terrorist suspects on the run.
