Man Jailed For Life Over 2017 Christmas Day Murder

A man from Lisburn has been jailed for life after he pled guilty to stabbing a mother to death on Christmas Day 2017.

20-year-old Nathan Ward admitted stabbing Jayne Toal Reat, 43, at a house in the Mornington Lane area of Lisburn.

He entered his plea at Craigavon Crown Court on Thursday morning, 24 January, after being rearraigned on the charges in the same case.

He also admitted to wounding his own father in the same incident.

Judge Patrick Lynch QC jailed the self-confessed killer for life.

The case was adjourned pending a number of reports from a psychiatrist, probation and victim impact reports.
