Murder Probe Launched After Man Dies In East Belfast

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man died following an attack in east Belfast.

Officers were called to Cluan Place on Sunday night, January 27, after reports a man had been seriously assaulted.

The PSNI has since confirmed that the 45-year-old man has died and detectives from the Serious Crime Branch have launched a murder investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter McKenna said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Cluan Place, Albertbridge Road or Templemore Avenue between 9pm and 10pm last night who may have any information which could assist us with our inquiries to make contact on 101 quoting reference number 1303 of  27/1/19.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been in any of these areas and have dashcam footage to contact us."

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.

Four Charged In Connection With Blake Newland Murder
Four people are due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court charged in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Blake Newland. Arrest Over Attempted Murder
Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident on the Limestone Road in north Belfast on Friday night. A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries sustained during the attack, in which a number of people are believed to have been involved.

An attempted murder charge has followed a serious incident in Portrush when a 19-year-old man was taken to hospital after being attacked. He was stabbed a number of times during the incident in the Crocknamack Street area on Saturday night.

Detectives in County Down have launched a murder inquiry after a man was fatally stabbed during an incident yesterday evening. The attack happened in the Derrybeg area of Newry at around 7.30pm, when it is understood that the victim intervened in a row.
