Two Released Over Cluan Place Murder

Two men arrested in relation to the murder of a man in east Belfast on Sunday have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The 45-year-old father of two was attacked by a gang at the entrance to Cluan Place between 9pm and 10pm on 27 January, just yards from his home.

It is understood he was stabbed to death.

Two females, aged 35 and 36, were also arrested on Monday and are still being questioned by detectives.

Tributes have been paid to the well-known loyalist who was highly regarded in the local community, according to east Belfast UUP Councillor Sonia Copeland.

"I was absolutely shocked to learn of the murder of Ian Ogle," she said.

"I have known him for a number of years from involvement in work in and around Cluan Place.

"I am shocked that anyone should be attacked in this manner, and I urge anyone who can help the police to catch those responsible to come forward immediately and help them take these dangerous individuals off the streets before another innocent family is put through this type of dreadful ordeal."
