Suspicious Object Sparks L'Derry Security Alert

Families have been evacuated from their L'Derry homes amid reports of a suspicious device in the area.

A police operation in the vicinity of Clon Elagh, just off the Skeoge Road, was sparked this afternoon, Monday 15 April, after an object was discovered.

Local residents have been asked to evacuate the area as a precaution.

Police are at the scene.

A 59-year-old man has been arrested at Birmingham Airport in connection with a fatal mortar attack in Newry in 1992. Homes Evacuated In West Belfast Security Alert
A number of homes have been evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious object in west Belfast. The object was found in the Slieveban Avenue area of Andersontown at 11.30am on Wednesday 07 November. No main roads have been affected by the security alert. There are no further details at this time.

Armagh City Alerted As Belfast Scare Ends
While this morning's security alert at Whiterock Leisure Centre in west Belfast is now over - with nothing suspicious being found - a separate scare has also been taking place in Co Armagh. The security forces have this afternoon recovered a 'viable device' in Armagh City.

Man Arrested For Headbutting Female Police Officer
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Newry for assaulting a police officer. While responding to a domestic related report, a local female officer was headbutted to the head, which caused swelling and bruising. The officer was seen by medical staff and her injuries were not more serious and she felt well enough to remain on duty.
